Blast furnace ironmaking

Raw material conveying system: In the belt conveyor system that transports raw materials such as iron ore and coke to the blast furnace, various valves are used to control the flow of materials. For example, an electric gate valve is usually installed at the outlet of the raw material bin. This valve can accurately control the opening size through an electric device to adjust the feeding speed of the raw materials. When the blast furnace needs to increase the input of raw materials, the opening of the gate valve can be increased to allow the raw materials to fall quickly on the conveyor belt and then be transported to the blast furnace.

Hot air system: The hot blast furnace is a key equipment for blast furnace ironmaking. It provides high-temperature hot air for the blast furnace. In the hot air duct of the hot blast furnace, a hot air valve is used. The hot air valve needs to withstand high-temperature and high-pressure hot air, and is generally made of special high-temperature resistant materials. When the hot blast furnace supplies air to the blast furnace, the hot air valve is opened to allow the high-temperature hot air to enter the blast furnace smoothly; when the hot blast furnace is performing heat storage or other operations, the hot air valve is closed to prevent hot air leakage. In addition, in order to adjust the flow and pressure of hot air, regulating valves will be installed on the hot air pipeline. These regulating valves can accurately control the parameters of hot air according to the process requirements of blast furnace ironmaking.

Blast furnace gas recovery system: Blast furnaces produce a large amount of blast furnace gas during the ironmaking process. On the gas recovery pipeline, shut-off valves and vent valves will be installed. The shut-off valve is used to transport gas to gas storage or utilization facilities during normal production. It can quickly and effectively cut off the flow of gas to prevent safety accidents such as gas leakage. The vent valve is used to safely discharge gas into the atmosphere in the case of abnormal gas pressure or equipment maintenance, so as to avoid dangerous situations such as explosion caused by gas accumulation in the pipeline.


Application of valves in steelmaking

Converter steelmaking

Oxygen supply system: Converter steelmaking requires a large amount of oxygen to oxidize impurities. On the oxygen delivery pipeline, oxygen-specific valves, such as oxygen regulating valves and quick shut-off valves, are used. The oxygen regulating valve can accurately control the flow of oxygen to ensure that the steelmaking reaction in the converter is carried out according to the predetermined process requirements. The quick shut-off valve is designed to quickly cut off the oxygen supply in an emergency, such as when oxygen leaks or abnormal conditions occur in the converter, to ensure production safety. These oxygen valves usually have special designs such as anti-leakage and anti-spark, because oxygen is a combustion aid that can easily cause fire or explosion under high concentrations and certain conditions.

Molten steel pouring system: Sliding gate valves are used in the process of pouring molten steel from the converter into the ladle and then pouring it from the ladle to the continuous casting machine. The sliding gate valve is installed at the bottom of the ladle, and it can adjust the outflow speed and flow rate of molten steel by controlling the sliding of the slide plate. During the pouring process, the opening of the sliding gate valve is accurately controlled according to factors such as the pulling speed of the continuous casting machine and the liquid level of the crystallizer, so that the molten steel can flow into the crystallizer stably to ensure the smooth progress of the continuous casting process.


The use of valves in the steel rolling process

Heating furnace system: Before rolling steel, the steel needs to be heated to a suitable rolling temperature in the heating furnace. Gas regulating valves and safety shut-off valves will be installed on the gas supply pipeline of the heating furnace. The gas regulating valve can adjust the flow of gas according to the temperature control requirements of the heating furnace to achieve the purpose of accurately controlling the furnace temperature. The safety shut-off valve is used to quickly cut off the gas supply in the event of gas leakage, abnormal pressure or other emergencies to prevent accidents such as fire or explosion.

Cooling system: In the steel rolling process, in order to ensure the quality and performance of steel, the steel needs to be cooled. Various valves are used in the cooling water pipeline. For example, a gate valve is installed at the outlet of the cooling water pump to control the initial flow of cooling water. Ball valves or butterfly valves are installed at the branches of the cooling water pipeline and the inlet of key equipment to adjust the distribution and flow of cooling water. At the same time, in order to prevent the cooling water pressure from being too high, a safety valve is also installed in the cooling system. When the pressure exceeds the set value, the safety valve automatically opens to release part of the cooling water to protect the equipment safety of the cooling system.
